What do you think?

I've noticed for a while that on my blog the longer posts about controversial subjects seldom get any reader comments. While the shorter, funnier posts get lots of comments. Why do you think that is?

I'll continue to post both kinds of posts, because both kinds of posts reflect my personality. I'm just curious why this is happening. It seems counter-intuitive. (And the idea of my counters being intuitive just freaks me out!)

This is a job for... Captain Metaphor!

You are a scenic byway with a lovely view. People like looking at train wrecks and car crashes, but they don't expect them in the botanical gardens.

Or....

The shorter post can be read quickly and a comment such as an "atta boy" is easy to jot down on the run. The longer posts take some time and then digestion to comment on without sounding like a blithering fool. Which is exactly how most of my comments sound.

I also think people prefer the scenic view to the train wreck.
